The recording sessions for "Galgal" (2009) were what led to "desnudo", the first solo piano album by Jean-Paul Prat. The Steinway hired for the sessions spurred him to record, in one go, eleven solo piano pieces. The project then lay dormant for a while, but after listening to them again, the decision was taken to rerecord the pieces at Studio de Meudon, a place designed specially for the piano.
The album's title reflects the nakedness of the music - Masal stripped down - which also lays bare the composer! While Jean-Paul Prat's music is obviously made to be orchestrated, this solo opus shows it stripped of all such trappings, just as it sprang from the artist's fingers.
"desnudo" (with a small "d", please!) is an essential album for all lovers of music, "inner voyagers" seeking, through music, to explore their most intimate universes.
